Liza David joined the UCLA Athletics Department as a volunteer student assistant in the Athletic Communications office in 1993 and 20 years later became the Athletic Communications Director.
Her duties include overseeing seven full-time Sports Information Directors while serving as the main contact for the womenโs gymnastics and womenโs soccer teams.
David was hired as a full-time intern by the Athletic Department in 1995 and elevated to an Assistant Sports Information Director a year later. In 2011, she took on a new role in the department as the Director of New Media, executing and overseeing the UCLA Athletics social media accounts, as well as the departmentโs official website, UCLABruins.com. She served in a dual role as Athletic Communications Director and Director of New Media from 2013-15. In the Fall of 2019, she received the UCLA Athletics Wooden Award for Distinguished Service.
David has worked directly with 14 UCLA sports throughout her career: womenโs basketball, menโs and womenโs cross country, football, menโs and womenโs gymnastics, menโs and womenโs soccer, menโs and womenโs tennis, and menโs and womenโs track & field. She was the Sports Information Director for 10 NCAA Championship teams.
Among her proudest professional accomplishments is growing the UCLA Gymnastics social media accounts to unprecedented levels, not just collegiately but in all of womenโs sports. The only womenโs sports team in the U.S. with more Instagram followers than UCLA Gymnastics is the U.S. Womenโs Soccer National Team.
The Victorville, Calif. native graduated from UCLA in 1995 with a degree in communication studies. She resides in Culver City, Calif.
