Andrew Larkin begins his fifth season as the UCLA men's golf assistant coach in 2019-2020.
In his four seasons, the Bruins have recorded a total of 24 Top 4 finishes, including 17 over the last two campaigns. UCLA has earned 11 All-Pac-12 Conference honors over the last four seasons, including three in each of the last two years.
In April 2019, Larkin was named a finalist for the GCAA Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award. This summer, Larkin caddied for Devon Bling at the 2019 Masters and the 2019 U.S. Open after Bling finished runner-up at the '18 U.S. Amateur at Pebble Beach, where Larkin was also on the bag.
Prior to his time in Westwood, Larkin spent the previous three seasons as the head men's and women's golf coach at Occidental College in Los Angeles. UCLA head men’s golf coach Derek Freeman announced the hiring of Larkin in August 2015.
“We are very excited to have Andrew join us at UCLA,” Freeman said. “He has consistently displayed a commitment to excellence throughout the interview process. With experience as a student-athlete, professional golfer and a head coach, we are confident he will make an excellent addition to the Bruin family.”
During his tenure with Occidental, Larkin coached seven golfers to All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) honors, as well as four All-American Scholars. Larkin’s biggest legacy to Occidental College will be helping lead the school’s effort to complete The Andrew E. Rubin Practice Facility last Spring, a 2,500-square foot on-campus golf practice facility that includes the Pongracz and Wright Families Putting Green and The Tiger Hitting Bays.
“I want to thank Coach Freeman for this opportunity,” Larkin said. “I am very excited to be joining the UCLA family and to help this program continue its tradition of success.”
Before becoming the head coach at his alma mater (2012 graduate), Larkin was a two-sport athlete at Occidental in golf (four years) and soccer (three years). In 2012, he was the Pat Yeomans Award recipient for his athletic and academic success, the top annual honor for an individual sport athlete.
Larkin was First Team All-SCIAC once and Second Team on three occasions. He was also a two-time Academic All-American and had two career tournament wins, including SCIAC No. 2 in 2010. Larkin made his professional golf debut in November 2012, playing events on the PGA Tour Latin America and the Pepsi Tour. He holds 11 professional wins, including the 2014 Pepsi Tour Northern California Championship and the 2019 SCPGA Match Play Championship.
