"The Giff" On-Campus Practice Facility
Jack and Rhodine Gifford have been generous supporters of UCLA Athletics, particularly to the golf programs. Their lead donation made possible UCLA's on-campus practice facility, known as "The Giff." Located in the heart of campus, Bruin golfers have access to “The Giff” seven days a week. The facility features a large 80-foot long putting green with a greenside bunker. Student-athletes are able to hit balls off a grass tee box and built-in range mats south onto UCLA’s intramural field toward Pauley Pavilion. Both the tee box and putting surface are manicured by the greenskeeper crew from nearby Bel-Air Country Club.
“The Giff” also houses a central meeting room for the two golf programs fit with personalized lockers where coaches and student-athletes can review training regiments.
Bel-Air Country Club
Bel-Air Country Club, one of the country’s most prestigious golfing venues, has served as UCLA’s home course for more than 40 years. Located just five minutes from campus in the mansion-dotted Hollywood hills, UCLA golfers are welcomed with beautiful views of Powell Library and Royce Hall from the first hole tee box. Bel-Air's original architecture was done by George C. Thomas, Jack Neville and Billy Bell Sr. in 1925, with most recent changes Tom Doak in 2018 to eliminate bunkers and water hazards and re-shape the greens.
The course features characteristic contours and is well-manicured from tee to green. Between holes, players are guided through the steep topography from hole-to-hole via a tunnel, an elevator and the city’s most famous suspension bridge on the par-3 10th, which was dedicated in late legendary UCLA men’s coach and Hall of Famer Eddie Merrins’ (1932-2023) honor in 2015. During Merrins’ 14-year tenure as head coach, he was the head professional at Bel-Air Country Club from 1962 to 2003.
Bel-Air was site of the 1976 and 2017 U.S. Amateur Championships and 2023 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, and will be the future host of the 2026 Curtis Cup.
Brentwood Country Club
Brentwood Country Club is located 10 minutes from the UCLA campus. The course, which measures 6,782 yards and carries a 72.9 rating, puts emphasis on accuracy and is often subject to strong breezes off the nearby Pacific Ocean. Brentwood offers a traditional 18-hole layout with tree-lined fairways and challenging greens. The Bruins utilize the club’s large short game area and putting green. Brentwood and UCLA also hosted the 1994 Pac-10 Conference Women's Championship.
Hillcrest Country Club
The Oaks Club at Valencia
The Oaks Club at Valencia, designed by Chris Gray and two-time major winner Mark O'Meara, is an 18-hole golf course requiring both length off the tee, precise iron play and bold putting. The club provides a short game area, practice putting green and a private driving range meant exclusively for UCLA team use. All active UCLA golfers are members at The Oaks Club at Valencia. Running through oak canyons, river valleys and foothills, the course challenges players of every skill level. The course measures more than 7,200 yards from the tournament tees and plays to a par of 72.
Valencia Country Club
Valencia Country Club, designed by legendary architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., is an 18-hole course characterized by large undulating greens defended by a collection of bunkers. Host of the 2013 Pac-12 Conference Women’s Golf Championship, all active UCLA golfers are members at Valencia Country Club.
