  • Induction:
    1984
One of the most exciting college basketball players ever, center Bill Walton helped lead UCLA to an 86-4 record and a pair of national championships in his three-year varsity career (1972-1974). A true scholar-athlete, he graduated with a degree in history and was a three-time Academic All-America choice. Portland selected him with the top pick of the 1974 NBA draft, and by 1977 he had helped lead the Trailblazers to the NBA title. He played for three franchises in his 14-year career and was the NBA's most valuable player in 1978.

Walton, who remains active in basketball through clinics and television commentary, was a charter member of the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984.
