Craig Dixon was the top-ranked hurlder in the world in the late 1940s.

As a junior at UCLA in 1948, he won a bronze medal in 110-meter hurdles at the Olympics, finishing just inches behind fellow countrymen William Porter and Clyde Scott. The following year, he won 59 consecutive races in competitions all over the world. But Dixon did not compete again after graduating from UCLA. He became an insurance salesman, then was an assistant track and field coach for the Bruins. He moved on to sell electronics, then advertising.
