Dr. Bobby Brown

Bobby Brown joined the major leagues as a 21-year-old for the New York Yankees in 1946. He batted .279 in his eight-year major-league career, but hit a remarkable .439 in four World Series. During his early professional career, he earned his medical degree and completed his internship and residency in his hometown of San Francisco. Following his retirement from baseball, he returned to medical practice as a cardiologist. He also served as interim president of baseball's Texas Rangers and, beginning in 1984, was president of the American League for 10 years.
