Evelyn Ashford

The world's top female sprinter of the 1970s, Ashford was a three-year letter winner at UCLA (1976-78) who won four individual national titles and led the Bruins to the 1977 AIAW national team championship. A four-time Olympian, she competed at the 1976 Games in Montreal, was selected for the U.S. team that boycotted the 1980 Games, won two gold medals in Los Angeles in 1984, one gold and one silver in Seoul in 1988 and one more gold in Barcelona in 1992. She is the former world record holder in the 100 meters and also set indoor world records at 50 and 60 meters.
