Bob Waterfield

One of the most charismatic quarterbacks in college and professional football history, Bob Waterfield is best remembered at UCLA for leading the Bruins to their first victory over USC and to their first Rose Bowl invitation in 1942. A triple threat who could run, pass, and kick, as well as play defense, Waterfield joined the NFL's Cleveland Rams in 1945 and immediately earned league most valuable player honors while leading the Rams to the league title. He played the next seven seasons for the Rams in Los Angeles and, though he often shared time with fellow quarterback Norm Van Brocklin, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1965.
Waterfield, who died at 62 in 1983, was a charter member of the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984.
