One of the stars on head coach Al Scates' first USVBA national championship team in 1965, Larry Rundle went on to captain the 1968 U.S. Olympic team and play on U.S. Pan-Am and World Games teams. He also won one of the most famous beach volleyball matches of all-time with partner Henry Bergman at the 1968 Manhattan Beach Open. After retiring from volleyball, Rundle became a mortgage banker. He also became an accomplished tennis player and an assistant high school volleyball coach.
