Liz Masakayan

Liz Masakayan was the nation’s best women’s volleyball player in 1984, when she won the Broderick Award and led the Bruins to the NCAA title.
The “Flyin’ Masakayan” went on to play six years for the U.S. national team and competed in the 1988 Olympics. She was a member of the 1991 World Championship team and was named the 1991 defensive player of the year. That fall, Masakayan returned to UCLA as an assistant coach for two years and, at the same time, completed her degree as part of the Bruin Final Score program. She also went on to become one of the greatest players in women’s pro beach volleyball history.
