Ricci Luyties
- Induction:
- 1995
The volleyball teams for which Luyties starred from 1981-84 nearly were unbeatable. In fact, two of them did go an entire season without a loss and all four won the NCAA title while compiling a combined record of 126-7. Luyties then joined the United States national team full-time in 1986 and won various medals, culminating with a gold medal in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul. He played two years with Montpellier (French First Division) in 1990 and 1991, and has played on the AVP Beach Tour and coached girls' volleyball at the high school level. Luyties is active in the California Special Olympics and regularly participates in volleyball clinics for children and adults.
