Sidney Wicks

After Lew Alcindor completed his eligibility in 1969, it was forward Sidney Wicks who stepped up to become UCLAโs leading scorer and rebounder in 1970 and 1971, his junior and senior seasons. The Bruins didnโt miss a beat, winning the national championship again both years.
Wicks then was the second overall pick in the NBA draft by the Portland Traiblazers and earned league rookie of the year honors. He enjoyed a productive 10-year career with Portland, the Boston Celtics and the San Diego Clippers, appearing in 681 games and averaging 16.8 points per game. He ranked among the leagueโs top 12 scorers each of his first four seasons, averaging more than 21 points per game. He later returned to UCLA as Walt Hazzardโs volunteer assistant coach for four seasons.
