LOS ANGELES - Nineteen UCLA athletes and coaches were selected to compete for the United States in the 1999 World University Games, which will take place July 1-13 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

Among those on the roster are 1996 U.S. Olympian Suzy Powell (track & field), 1997 World University Games competitor Elisabeth Bachman (women's volleyball), 1999 NCAA 400m hurdle champion Joanna Hayes (track & field) and men's volleyball coaching legend Al Scates.
