Defending NCAA champion UCLA recorded its fourth sweep of the season by defeating Cal State Northridge before 784 in Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins (5-2, 3-1) won 15-3, 15-9, 15-4 in 80 minutes by hitting .514, limiting the Matadors to a .247 hitting percentage and ripping 10 service aces, a season high. Individually, the Bruins were led at the serving line by sophomore Mark Williams and junior Adam Naeve, who each rifled a season high of three aces. Junior Ed Ratledge, making his first career start as a Bruin, led the UCLA with 15 kills and also served two aces. The Bruins boasted five players with double-digit kills, including senior Danny Farmer (14, .571) and Williams (13, .667).

Cal State Northridge (1-3, 1-2) was led by freshman Ekhard Walters 16 kills.

UCLA will embark on a six-match road trip, beginning with their next match at UC Irvine on Feb. 5. The Bruins return home on Feb. 24 for a 7 p.m. league match against UC Irvine.
