ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 18 UCLA Bruins are in 15th place at the end of day one of the 1999 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships with 25 points. Junior All-American Keiko Price (Mililani, HI/Mililani HS) recorded a lifetime best time of 22.77 in the prelims of the 50 free, breaking her previous second place time in the Bruin record book.
Freshman Katie Younglove (Sacramento, CA/St.Francis HS) shaved almost three seconds off her 500 free time, clocking a lifetime best mark of 4:49.58, the eighth fastest in school history. Freshman Jen Noddle (Brampton, Ont./Mayfield S.S.) registered a lifetime best time of 2:02.19 in the 200 IM, breaking her previous third fastest time in school history.
UCLA's 400 medley relay team recorded a season-top time in the prelims with a 3:41.22 mark. Freshman Nicole Beck's (Ventura, CA/Buena HS) 100 back split time of 55.60 in the 400 medley relay is a lifetime best and is good enough for a tie for third place in the UCLA record books.
