San Jose, Calif. - The 14th-ranked San Jose State women's water polo team hung tough with top-ranked UCLA for a half before the Bruins scored five goals in the second half to win 6-1 Sunday afternoon in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at the Aquatics Center.

The Spartans (2-2, 0-1) scored first on a Christy Taylor goal with 3:38 remaining in the first.

UCLA (1-1, 1-1) scored a goal in the second period by Elaine Zivich at 3:06. The score was tied 1-1 at the half before the Bruins scored two goals in the third period and three goals in the fourth period. Zivich scored her second goal of the game in the final period to make it 5-1.
