Results

ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 18 UCLA Bruins finished 16th at the 1999 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships with a score of 83. In the final day of competition, the Bruins were led by freshman sensation Katie Younglove (Sacramento, CA/St. Francis HS). She finished fourth in the 200 fly and notched the second-fastest time in school history with a 1:57.88 mark. Younglove also scored points for UCLA in the 400 free relay, swimming the anchor leg of UCLA's 14th place relay team. In just her first NCAA Championships, Younglove earned three All-America certificates (400 free relay, 100 and 200 fly).

Junior All-American Keiko Price (Mililani, HI/Mililani HS) contributed once again for UCLA, finishing 14th in the 100 free and the 400 free relay. Price led all Bruins, earning six All-America honors.

Also contributing for UCLA was freshman Nicole Beck (Ventura, CA/Buena HS). Beck finished 13th in the 200 back, recording a career best and the fourth-fastest time in school history (1:58.95).

UCLA had 10 All-Americans for a total of 24 All-America certificates. The sensational Bruin rookie class of Beck, Angela Belloni, Lyndee Hovsepian, Katie Ryan, Younglove and Julia Voitovitsch accounted for 10 of UCLA's 24 All-America honors. Junior All-American Amber Wines earned two certificates, while sophomore All-American Beth Goodwin collected four. The Bruins lose only senior All-American Becky Thompson, who garnered two All-America honors.
