San Jose, Calif. - Senior forward Shea Travis scored in the 48th minute of the match to lead the fifth- ranked UCLA men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over 22nd-ranked San Jose State at Spartan Stadium.

Travis, who entered the match in the 26th minute, scored on a header at 47:43. Travis' shot followed a McKinley Tennyson, Jr. header that caromed off the crossbar but right to his teammate in front of an empty net.

San Jose State had one last chance to equalize at the end of the game, but Bruin keeper Nick Rimando saved a Cesar Gutierrez shot to save the match for UCLA. Rimando recorded four saves and collected his second shutout of the season.

The Bruins' record improves to 5-1-0, San Jose State drops to 3-2-1. UCLA will next host Oregon State Sunday, Sept. 26 in its home opener at North Athletic Field at 2:00 pm.
