SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's soccer team was unable to pull off a weekend sweep of Los Angeles area teams, as the Aztecs (6-3 overall) lost to 13th-ranked UCLA, 3-0 on Sunday at the ARCO Training Center.

The Bruins (7-1 overall) took a page out of SDSU's book, scoring only three minutes and 42 seconds into the game when sophomore forward Staci Duncan placed a low cross from freshman forward Tracey Milburn in the back of the net. Prior to Sunday's game, State had scored first in each of its last four games.

The Aztecs were unable to generate any sustained threat against the UCLA defense, and much of the game was played in the midfield. However, the Bruins got an insurance goal at 55:42 when Venus James was put through by Duncan and beat SDSU sophomore goalkeeper Linnea Quinones on a breakaway.

UCLA freshman forward Jessica Winton rounded out the scoring at 64:02 when she dribbled her way through the Aztec defense from midfield and beat Quinones in a one-on-one situation.

The shutout marked only the second time SDSU has been blanked this season.

The Bruins return to San Diego on Friday, October 1, when they meet soccer powerhouse North Carolina at 8 pm on the first day of the University of San Diego Tournament. On day two of the tournament, the Bruins meet Texas Christian University on Sunday, October 3 at 2 pm.
