Westchester, Calif. - A golden goal in the 99th minute from senior forward Martin Bruno gave UCLA a 2-1 overtime victory over Loyola Marymount at LMU's Sullivan Field.

Bruno took a pass from senior midfielder Pete Vagenas and drilled a rocket past Lion goalkeeper Jerad Bailey into the right corner for the winner at 98:20.

The Bruins could have avoided overtime altogether had two apparent goals not been called off in regulation. Ryan Futagaki appeared to score his second goal in as many games in the 21st minute but had the goal waved off due to an offsides call. Vagenas also fell victim with less than four minutes to play in regulation when he followed through on Sasha Victorine's shot that hit the post but also had that called off.

Victorine scored the first goal of the game at 26:35, booting a shot into the right corner. The goal, which was assisted by McKinley Tennyson, Jr., was Victorine's team-leading sixth of the season.

The Bruins took the 1-0 lead into halftime and looked to add to it with a flurry of shots in the 58th minute. After a Futagaki shot hit the post, Tennyson took the rebound and hit a shot that was deflected by LMU defenders right to Victorine, whose shot went too high out of play. UCLA's inability to score in that series hurt the Bruins soon after, as LMU's Arturo Torres scored his ninth goal of the season a minute later to equalize. Torres had two other opportunities to bring his team ahead but could not capitalize.

UCLA's record improves to 7-1, while LMU drops to 5-4. The Bruins' next game will be Friday, Oct. 8 at Cal State Northridge.
