MALIBU, CALIF. - The UCLA men's water polo team began the 1999 season on a positive note, sweeping three scrimmage matches in the Wasko Tournament at Pepperdine Saturday.
The Bruins defeated UC Santa Barbara 6-2 in the first match of the day. UCLA then dropped UC San Diego 8-3. Last season, the Tritons claimed the Western Water Polo Association crown and finished third in the NCAA championships. The Bruins finished the tournament squeaking by host Pepperdine 8-7.
UCLA kicks off the official start to the season Saturday, Sept. 11 as the Bruins host UC Irvine with a noon match at the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center.
