LOS ANGELES - UCLA's men's basketball team, down to just six players because of injury, defeated Kraitene, a club team from Marijampole, Lithuania, 90-66 in front of 5,099 at Pauley Pavilion on Wednesday (Nov. 10). It was UCLA's exhibition opener for the 1999-2000 season.

Four of UCLA's six players scored in double figures, led by sophomore starting forward Jerome Moiso's 31 points and 11 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures for UCLA, the Bruins led 49-26 at halfitme, were freshman forward starter Jason Kapono, 18 points and six assists, sophomore forward starter Billy Knight, 15 points, including three, three-pointers and six rebounds and junior guard starter Rico Hines, 13 points and six assists. Junior guard starter Earl Watson added seven points and 11 assists. All five starters played 32 or more minutes. Senior forward Sean Farnham came off the bench to play 25 minutes, with six points and three rebounds.

Four UCLA players missed the game because of injury-sophomore forward JaRon Rush, right elbow strain, junior guard Ryan Bailey, right foot sprain, sophomore guard Ray Young, right thumb sprain and sophomore center Dan Gadzuric, hyperextended left knee. The Bruins were also without the services of sophomore forward Matt Barnes, who is academically ineligible for the first quarter and junior guard Todd Ramasar who is recuperating from left shoulder surgery.

The Bruins will continue exhibition play next week, hosting the California Midwest All-Stars on Thursday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion.
