ATHENS, GA - In the third day of competition of the NCAA Individual Championships being played at the University of Georgia in Athens, both of UCLA's doubles teams were eliminated in the round of 16. All of the Bruins have now completed their 1999 seasons.
The tandem of Jason Cook (Woodland Hills, CA) and Brandon Kramer (Reno, NV) seeded 5-8, fell to USC's Patrick Gottesleben and Roman Kukal 7-6(6), 6-3 in the round of 16. Cook and Kramer end the season with a 30-12 record.
The duo of Jean-Noel Grinda (Nice, France) and Jong-Min Lee (Seoul, Korea) were the Bruins' final contender, but were also upset in the round of 16. Seeded third in the tournament and currently ranked sixth in the nation, Grinda and Lee met Stanford's K.J. Hippensteel and Ryan Wolters for the third time this season. Despite two previous UCLA wins, the Stanford duo came out on top today, posting a 6-2, 6-1 victory over the Bruins. Grinda and Lee finish their season with a 25-10 overall record.
