
Preseason No. 16 UCLA Falls to Defending National Champion Florida 1-3

LOS ANGELES -- The defending national champion Florida Gators (3-0) defeated UCLA 3-1 today at the USC Fila Challenge.
Florida scored two shots before the half to take a 2-0 lead. In the sixth minute, senior forward Sarah Yohe poked in a goal from right in front of the net, while Wambach, a sophomore forward, did nearly the same thing in the 11th minute.
In the 49th minute, a one-touch pass by sophomore forward Andrea Sellers gave Wambach a wide-open shot, and she notched her second goal of the game and fifth of the season to give the Gators a 3-0 advantage.
UCLA (1-1) avoided a shutout in the 83rd minute when freshman midfielder Tracey Winzen headed in sophomore defender Bethany Bogart's corner kick.
The Fila Challenge concludes on Monday (Sept. 6) when UCLA meets Maryland at 1 p.m. and USC faces Florida at 3 p.m., both at McAlister Field.
