Fullerton, Calif. - The UCLA women's cross country team placed first overall, and the men's team placed first amongst all colleges at the Cal State Fullerton Jammin Cross Country Invitational.

The Bruin men placed second overall with 47 points, behind first-place finisher Cal Coast TC, which totaled 18 points. UCLA had the highest finish of all colleges, outpacing Cal State Fullerton, which placed third with 114 points. Bryan Green led the Bruins with a sixth-place finish and a time of 25:26.40 over the 8000m course. Scott Abbott and Paul Muite were close behind in seventh and eight place with times of 25:32.60 and 25:35.70, respectively. Also running for UCLA were 18th-place Mason Moore (26:02.30), 19th-place Andrew Wulf (26:03.80), 20th-place Jon Rankin (26:05.20), 26th-place Justin Patananan (26:16.50), 39th place Phil Young (26:47.00) and 48th-place Martin Brix (27:10.30).

On the women's side, six Bruins finished in the Top 15, giving UCLA a total of 32 points. San Diego State was second with 74 points. The Bruins were led by the meet winner Christina Bowen. Bowen's time of 17:34.30 on the 5000m course was over thirty seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Valerie Flores placed fourth with a time of 18:14.90, and Gina Donnelly was seventh (18:29.40). A trio of Bruins placed 11th-13th - Julia Barbour (18:46.30), Kelly Grimes (18:46.90) and Melisaa McBain (18:54.60). In addition, Bridget Hatch placecd 17th (19:15.10), Michelle Barrack 24th (19:32.90), Jessica Marr 32nd (19:48.80) and Tiffany Burgess 38th (19:59.00).
