Albuquerque, NM - The UCLA women's basketball team lost to host New Mexico in the consolation game of the Women's Sports Foundation Basketball Classic by a score of 75-54 despite junior guard Michelle Greco's career-high 28 points.
Greco led all players in scoring and shot 12-23 from the field. She also had three steals and three rebounds before leaving late in the game with a right ankle sprain. Junior forward Shalada Allen, battling foul trouble, scored six in 17 minutes of play. Sophomore forward Natalie Jarrett led the Bruins with seven rebounds, and freshman forward Jamila Veasley totaled six boards.
Jordan Adams led the Lobos with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bruins held a 29-24 lead in the first half, but New Mexico scored the final 11 points of the half to take a 35-29 halftime lead, and the Lobos never trailed again. A 10-0 run in the second half gave New Mexico a 59-37 lead with 9:42 left.
UCLA's record is now 0-2, and the Bruins will next face Utah in their Pauley Pavilion opener on Friday, Nov. 17 at 7:00 pm.
