Los Angeles - The UCLA athletic department's Thanksgiving food drive came to a conclusion Monday, as athletes, staff and coaches combined to donate some 593 non-perishable items for needy families this holiday season. UCLA's donations will benefit the One Incredible Family Inc.'s 7th Annual Homeless Feeding this Saturday at the Westchester Masonic Temple.

The food drive, which was put together by members of the Bruin Athletic Council, began on Nov. 3 in an athletes vs. coaches and staff format to see who could raise the most items. In a very close race, the athletic department staff edged out the athletes by a 301-292 margin. Of the 292 cans donated by UCLA student-athletes, 119 were from the women's swimming and diving team.

Former swimmer Keiko Price adds some items to the student-athlete box.

The Bruin Athletic Council (BAC) features representatives from all 21 of UCLA's athletic teams and is headed by co-chairs Brighid Dwyer (Swimming), Elisabeth Bachman (Volleyball) and Leilani Bagby (Golf / BAC Community Service Rep.).
