Softball Downs Cal Poly, 7-0, at Fresno State Tournament

FRESNO, Calif. - The third-ranked UCLA softball team improved its record to 22-3 on Thursday, winning its opening game of the Hallowell Chevrolet Classic by a score of 7-0 against Cal Poly. The Mustangs drop to 12-8 on the season with the loss in the round-robin tournament.
UCLA spread its runs around on the afternoon, scoring runs in each of the first four innings. Three Bruins, Lyndsey Klein, Julie Marshall and Julie Adams, all had multiple RBIs, with two apiece. Several players had extra-base hits, including Klein, Marshall and Adams each with a double, and pitcher Amanda Freed checking in with a double and a triple.
Freed struck out 11 Mustang batters in the contest on the way to her ninth win of the season. The Bruins return to action on Friday with games against Texas Tech and Flrodia State. UCLA plays the Red Raiders at 11 a.m. and the Seminoles at 1 p.m. Friday.
