
Bruins Advance To National Championship Match

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Top-seeded UCLA beat Penn State 15-11, 15-8, 15-10 Thursday night in the semifinals of the NCAA men's volleyball championship.
The Bruins (28-5) will play for the title on Saturday against the winner of the semifinal between second-seeded Pepperdine and No. 3 Ohio State.
After spotting UCLA eight points in the opening game, Penn State (20-14) pulled within 12-11, but the Bruins won the final three points.
In the final game, Penn State rallied from deficits of 8-1 and 14-6 to get within 14-10, but UCLA scored the final point to prevail.
Evan Thatcher led UCLA with 16 kills and 10 digs. Penn State's Carlos Guerra had 17 kills.
The victory is the 19th straight in the NCAA semifinals for the Bruins, who have won the national championship 17 times.
