Los Angeles - The fifth-ranked UCLA women's soccer team won its seventh-straight match Friday, downing visiting Fresno State, 3-0 in the Bruins' home opener of the 2000 season at Spaulding Field.

Bruin keeper CiCi Peterson didn't allow a goal for her fifth-straight game, setting the UCLA single-season record for consecutive shutouts. The Bruins haven't allowed a goal since a 6-1 win over Georgia back on Sept. 1.

Junior forward Stephanie Rigamat got things started for the Bruins early, scoring on an unassisted goal from 15-yards out in just the ninth minute of the game. Rigamat was followed by junior defender Krista Boling, who put UCLA up 2-0 on her first goal of the season in the 20th minute.

Following a 2-0 halftime lead, freshman forward Katherine Bjazevich put UCLA up 3-0 in the 79th minute, heading in a cross from about three yards out from Bruin senior Tracey Milburn.

Bruin head coach Jillian Ellis got in just before game time after flying in from Sydney, Australia earlier in the day. Ellis was serving as an assistant coach for the silver medal winning U.S. Women's National Team.

With the victory, UCLA improves to 7-1 on the season while Fresno State falls to 7-4. The win also gives the Bruins a perfect September, as UCLA won all six of its matches this month.

UCLA's next game will be this Sunday when the Bruins travel across town to take on Loyola Marymount at 1:00 p.m.
