Los Angeles, CA - On Super Bowl Sunday, top-ranked UCLA showcased some super gymnastics in winning a quadrangular meet today in Pauley Pavilion with a national-best 197.5. Second-ranked Alabama placed second with a season-high 196.975. Cal State Fullerton was third with a 194.4, and Southern Utah placed fourth with a 191.525.

UCLA senior Mohini Bhardwaj (Cincinnati, OH) scored two perfect 10s en route to a new school all-around record of 39.8 (out of 40). Bhardwaj received her two perfect marks on the uneven bars (her first-ever 10 on bars) and on the floor exercise (for the third time in as many attempts this season). She becomes the second Bruin ever to record two perfect 10s in the same meet, matching the feat of her teammate Jamie Dantzscher (San Dimas, CA), who accomplished this feat in the Bruins' season opener. Bhardwaj also tied for first place on vault (9.9) and tied for second on beam (9.9).

Bruin sophomore Kristin Parker (Hanford, CA) set new personal bests in the all-around (39.675, second place), bars (9.975, second place) and beam (9.925, first place). She also tied for first on vault with Bhardwaj and Alabama's Jeana Rice and Andre? Pickens. Also setting a new career-high mark was 2000 U.S. Olympian and UCLA freshman Kristen Maloney (Pen Argyl, PA) with a 9.95 on floor for second place.

Alabama led after one rotation, 49.25-49.225, thanks in part to a 9.95 from Natalie Barrington on bars. UCLA assumed a slight lead, 98.925-98.55, heading onto rotation three after scoring a 49.7 on bars. Four Bruins scored 9.9 or higher - Doni Thompson (Olympia, WA) with a 9.9, Parker with a 9.975, Dantzscher with a 9.95, and Bhardwaj with a 10. The latter three each received at least one perfect 10 from one of the two judges.

Two falls on the balance beam by UCLA helped Alabama close in on the Bruins' lead after the third rotation, and the Bruins entered the final rotation with a slim 147.825-147.7 lead. But UCLA closed the meet on floor exercise and recorded four scores of 9.925 or higher to established a new school record of 49.675 and a final team total of 197.5. Alabama scored a meet-high 49.275 on vault, but it wasn't nearly enough.
