East Lansing, MI - The top-ranked UCLA gymnastics team completed a Midwest road trip with a 195.475-194.0 victory over 23rd-ranked Michigan State.
Just two days after defeating eighth-ranked Michigan, UCLA returned to the competition floor to take on the Spartans. The Bruins never trailed in the competition, taking a large lead in rotation one with a 49.45 on bars. After sophomore Doni Thompson recorded a career-high 9.95, senior Mohini Bhardwaj followed with her second perfect 10 on bars and her fifth 10 overall this year. Also achieving a new career high was Carly Raab with a 9.75.
On vault, Lindsey Dong and Jamie Williams each set season-bests with a 9.8 and 9.35, respectively. Kristin Parker earned first-place honors with a 9.9.
In rotation three, on floor, the Bruins were aided by a career-high 9.5 from Lindsey Dong, a 9.8 from Valerie Velasco, a 9.875 from Malia Jones and a 9.85 from Jamie Dantzscher. On the balance beam, Yvonne Tousek and Onnie Willis recorded a pair of 9.9s, with Willis' score being a new career-high.
Parker won the all-around with a 39.4. Jones was second with a 39.2.
UCLA returns to action with a home meet against five-time national champion Georgia on Sunday, Mar. 18 at 2 pm.
