In response to the events of September 11, the Bruin Athletic Council (BAC) sponsored an event called, "Bruins For Relief." Bruin student-athletes, coaches and athletic department staff collected donations at the UCLA vs. Oregon football game on November 10 at the Rose Bowl. The day's efforts raised over $42,000, all of which has been donated to the Families for Freedom Scholarship Fund. This fund, which will be in place for the next 25 years, will provide financial assistance for children of victims wishing to attend a college or university.
