Box Score

Los Angeles -- The No. 22 UCLA women's tennis team dropped a tight, 4-3 decision to the University of New Mexico on Friday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. With the loss, UCLA falls to 3-6 on the season, while New Mexico improves to 6-4.

After losing the doubles point, UCLA rallied to win the top three singles matches to tie up the score at 3-3. The Lobos, however, clinched the match at No. 6 singles where Nicoleta Spilca outlasted UCLA's Jennifer Donahue, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1.

Friday marked the fifth straight match that the Bruins were without the services of No. 1 player Sara Walker and Zana Zlebnik. Walker, the No. 15 ranked player in the country, has a stress reaction in her left foot, while Zlebnik has been sidelined with a back injury.

The Bruins return to the courts tomorrow as they host No. 12 USC at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at Noon.
