On Saturday, December 7, over 10,000 kids from almost 300 schools attended UCLA's "I'm Going To College" event prior to the final football game of the regular season against Washington State. Although the Bruin football team has seen better days than Saturday, the kids in attendance for IGTC seemed to have a wonderful and fun-filled day. The day was filled with performances from groups such as hip hop dance troop Cuba-Swift & Milo, Capoeira, which is an up and coming African-Brasilian Martial Art, and the Santiago Middle School Band. Each group rotated their performances and hundreds of students gathered around to watch the festivities.

In addition to the wonderful performances, there were autograph signings by the UCLA Men's Baseball, Golf, and Track and Field teams. The students were also able to participate in face painting and football throwing through a UCLA football practice apparatus. The students fun filled day also included visits from the Red Cross of Santa Monica, UCLA Admissions/Academics, the US Navy and the LAPD.

UCLA students, athletes, and numerous volunteers combined their efforts to make this event a huge success. The volunteers were rewarded with free food for all their hard work courtesy of Rembrant Catering. Special thanks goes out to them and the food was excellent and much appreciated!

UCLA Athletics offers the "I'm going to College" Program at various events throughout the year. Operating through the Southern California school systems, the program touches thousands of students each year. Participants receive a glimpse of college life and the excitement of Division I Athletics.
