C. J. Bell Wins PV At UCSD Open

UCLA's men's and women's track & field teams this weekend (Friday-Saturday/April 26-27) competed at the UC San Diego Open in La Jolla.
Bruin Men
Art Venegas' UCLA men's team was led by five events winners on the
track ' junior Brandon Foster, winning his 200m heat; freshman Mario
Bassani won his 400m heat with the day's best mark; freshman Jonathon
Williams took first place in his 110m hurdle heat; senior Andrew Wulf won
Friday's 3000m steeplechase and the Bruins won the 4 X 400m relay.
In the field, senior C. J. Bell won the pole vault.
On the track ' Foster, son of Bruin hurdle great Greg Foster, won section two of the 200m (22.43); Bassani took first place in section five of the 400m (47.97, season-best); Williams had the best time of the day in the 110m hurdles, winning section three (14.79); Wulf's winning mark in the steeplechase was 9:12.34 and UCLA won the 4 X 400m relay (3:12.99). In the field ' Bell continued his successful senior season, taking the pole vault with a mark of 17-5 3/4 (personal-best, NCAA provisional). Former Bruin throwing great John Godina had the best mark in the shot put (67-0 1/2) and took fourth in his discus section (212-4).
Looking Ahead
UCLA will host USC on Saturday, May 4 at Drake Stadium in the
traditional annual dual meet between the two schools. The hammer throws
will start at 9 a.m., the rest of the field events begin at 11 a.m. and the
running events start at 12:30 p.m. The meet concludes at 4 p.m. with the
running of the 4 X 400m relays.
Fox Sports Net West 2 will tape delay the USC at UCLA dual meet on Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m.
