Stanford, Calif. - UCLA women's tennis players Megan Bradley and Sara Walker both dropped round of 16 singles matches Wednesday at the NCAA Championships at Stanford University.
Bradley, who was a 9-16 seed in the tournament and opened the Championships with two wins on Tuesday, fell to top-seeded Bea Bielik of Wake Forest, 6-1, 6-0 in Wednesday's round of 16.
Similar to Bradley, Walker picked up two wins on Tuesday but couldn't manage a third on Wednesday, as she fell to seventh-seeded Jewel Peterson of USC, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.
In doubles, Walker and partner Petya Marinova, seeded 5-8 in the Championships, dropped a first round match Wednesday to Tennessee's Vilmarie Castevelli/Agnes Wiski, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2. Meanwhile, UCLA's Bradley and Lauren Fisher picked up a first round victory over LSU's Bruna Colosio/Rocio Fantilli, 6-3, 7-5. They will play Arizona State's 5-8 seeded Adria Engel/Dora Krstulovic in the round of 16 later Wednesday afternoon.
