FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 3-ranked UCLA women's soccer team registered three second half goals to defeat Fresno State, 3-0 in a non-conference matchup Friday evening at Bulldog Stadium. With the win, UCLA improves to 5-1 on the year while Fresno State drops to 1-6.
The Bruins were the highest ranked team to visit Bulldog Stadium since No. 19 San Diego made a visit back in 1999.
Following 50 minutes of scoreless soccer, UCLA exploded for three goals and to hand Fresno State its fourth loss in a row. Katie Rivera and Lindsay Greco connected for the Bruins' first goal, as Greco crossed a pass from the right side, finding Rivera by the left side of the net. Jill Oakes scored the next goal a minute and a half later to put the Bruins ahead 2-0. The final goal was added by Greco, who headed in a throw in from Stacy Lindstrom.
UCLA returns home this Sunday to take on Cal State Northridge at Drake Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m.
