Junior driver Brett Ormsby scored three goals, including the game-winner in the first overtime period to help lead fourth-ranked UCLA to a 7-6 overtime victory over fifth-ranked Pepperdine (15-7) at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center. The Bruins conclude their MPSF schedule with a 7-1 record and improve to 18-5 on the year.
Michael Hausmann put the Waves ahead early in the match as he converted a penalty shot only 49 seconds into the game. UCLA rattled off two straight goals to go ahead 2-1 with 4:10 left in the first half. However, Josh Acosta found the back of the net with only 24 seconds remaining to tie the score on an extra-man goal.
UCLA scored three goals in the fourth quarter to force the match into overtime. Ormsby, along with Chris Pulido and Peter Belden led the Bruin charge in the final frame after UCLA had trailed 4-3 heading into the fourth.
The Bruins will conclude their regular season next weekend with a 10:00 a.m. non-conference match-up against cross-town rival and top-ranked USC at the McDonald's Swim Stadium.
