LOS ANGELES - UCLA midfielder Sarah-Gayle Swanson scored in the 43rd minute of action Friday, helping the fourth-seeded women's soccer team to a 1-0 decision over No. 13 Kansas in an NCAA Third Round match at UCLA's Drake Stadium. With the victory, the Bruins (19-1-3) move on to the quarterfinals and will face No. 5 Penn State. The Nittany Lions were 3-0 winners over Texas A&M. Kansas ends its season with an 18-6-1 overall record.

The official time of Swanson's goal came at the 42:33 mark of the first half. Bruin forward Bristyn Davis sent a ball into the Kansas box that was flicked on by Whitney Jones. Forward Kim Devine ran onto it and back-heeled it to Swanson, who slipped it past a diving Meghan Miller for the game's only goal.

UCLA had 16 shots on the evening while the Bruin defense held Kansas to just two. Davis led all players with four shots.

This marks UCLA's fourth-ever appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals and first since 2001. The Bruins will host next week's quarterfinal on Friday, Nov. 28 at 7:00 p.m.
