  • UCLA senior shortstop Natasha Watley upped her career postseason batting average to .365 (38-for-104) and her career WCWS average to .367 (18-for-49) with a 3-for-4 performance today. Watley is hitting .391 (9-for-23) during the 2003 postseason and picked up her first career WCWS RBI today.

  • UCLA has defeated Louisiana-Lafayette in four consecutive WCWS meetings.

  • UCLA senior third baseman Tairia Mims picked up her ninth career postseason home run, which leads all current Bruins, with two outs in the bottom of the third inning. Mims also leads the Bruins with 25 career postseason RBIs. Mims' homer was her 21st of the season, which ranks as the second-best single-season total in UCLA history. Mims' is also second on the Bruin's career home run list with 60 (Stacey Nuveman hit 90 in her career).

  • Louisiana-Lafayette dropped to 6-7 all-time in WCWS play and is 1-7 all-time against UCLA.

  • UCLA is 33-3 when it hits a home run this season, 22-1 when it hits multiple home runs in a game and 37-1 when it scores five or more runs.

  • UCLA's victory marked the 13th one-hit pitching performance by junior starting pitcher Keira Goerl, with her most recent one-hitter coming against Michigan State in the Region 2 championship game. Goerl improved to 36-7 on the season, while Louisiana-Lafayette starter Brook Mitchell dropped to 26-9.

  • Bruins' senior second baseman Monique Mejia's two-run home run in the sixth inning was the second of her career and gave her three career WCWS RBIs. It took Mejia three-and-a-half seasons to hit her first home run, which she smacked against Arizona State on May 10.

  • Louisiana-Lafayette was eliminated from the 2003 WCWS and finished the season with a 47-11 record.

  • UCLA advances to Game 10 at 8:30 tonight against Washington. UCLA defeated Washington in all three Pac-10 meetings this season by a combined score of 26-2. The Bruins own a 31-13 advantage in the all-time series with Washington.
