LOS ANGELES - Powered by strong showings in men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, along with women's cross-country, UCLA checked in at No. 2 in the latest Division-I Directors' Cup standings released Dec. 30 by the United States Sports Academy.

UCLA, which ranks second to Michigan with 298 points, had three fall sports finish in the top-5 nationally in NCAA competition. The women's soccer team reached the NCAA College Cup, finishing in a tie for third place, while both men's soccer and women's volleyball tied for fifth. UCLA's women's cross-country team placed seventh in postseason play.

Stanford (289), BYU (248), Maryland (241) and North Carolina (241) round out the rest of the leaders.

The United States Sports Academy Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. The United States Sports Academy, based in Daphne, Alabama, is in its first year sponsoring the program. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports (10 women's and 10 mens'). Each national champion receives 100 points.
