LOS ANGELES -The Bruins won four NCAA team championships 2003-04, more than any other school in the nation. In addition, UCLA placed third in competition for the Directors' Cup, which is presented annually by the National Association of Collegiate Athletic Directors, USA Today and the U.S. Sports Academy.

During the 2003-2004 school year, UCLA won NCAA team titles in women's gymnastics, softball, women's golf and women's track and field. It also finished second in men's golf and reached the championship match in both men's and women's tennis, finishing second in both sports.

The Bruins reached the semifinals of the College Cup in women's soccer, placing third (tied). They also reached the NCAA quarterfinals in both women's volleyball and men's soccer, tying for fifth place nationally and also placed fifth in women's indoor track and field. UCLA finished seventh in the NCAA championships in women's swimming and women's cross country, 12th in men's indoor track and field and 17th (tied) in men's outdoor track and field. In addition, the baseball squad reached the final day of the NCAA regionals, tying for 17th place nationally.

Overall, 13 Bruin teams finished in the Top Eight nationally in their respective sports. UCLA also won eight conference titles (Pac-10 or MPSF).

In a 57-day stretch between April 16 and June 12, UCLA won all four of its NCAA team championships (women's gymnastics, softball, women's golf and women's track and field) and finished second in three other sports (men's golf and both men's and women's tennis).
