Gymnast Mohini Bhardwaj became UCLA's first medalist in the 2004 Olympic Games, earning a team silver in women's gymnastics on Tuesday. Bruin athletes also participated in six other sports on Tuesday, with goalkeeper Brandon Brooks tending goal for the U.S. water polo team, and USA Softball remaining perfect in preliminary round action.
Women's Gymnastics
Former Bruin Mohini Bhardwaj and the U.S. women's gymnastics team won a silver medal in the team competition at the Olympic Games. The U.S. team captain becomes the first UCLA gymnast ever to win a medal in women's gymnastics, as well as the first medalist for UCLA in the 2004 Games.

Softball
Former Bruin Natasha Watley scored two of USA Softball's four runs and Lisa Fernandez scored a third as the United States remained undefeated in pool play on Tuesday at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Men's Water Polo
Former UCLA goalie Brandon Brooks helped lead Team USA to a 9-6 win over Kazakhstan Tuesday as the U.S. improved to 2-0 in Olympic play. It took almost 13 minutes before Team USA was able to officially pull out of Kazakhstan's rear-view mirror, but once U.S. captain Wolf Wigo put Team USA on top in the first half, he and his squad stayed there to notch the U.S. men's second Olympic win with a 9-6 decision over Kazakhstan Tuesday at the Olympic Aquatic Centre Indoor Pool For a complete recap, click HERE.
Baseball
UCLA's Nick Theodorou is playing for the Greek baseball team, which lost to Chinese Taipei by a score of 7-2 on Tuesday. At the plate, Theodorou went 0-1 with three walks on the day.
Men's Beach Volleyball
The U.S. beach volleyball team of Dax Holdren and Stein Metzger (UCLA '96) dropped a three-game decision to Norway's Iver Horrem and Bjorn Maaseide (UCLA '90) Tuesday evening at the Olympic Beach Volleyball Centre. For a complete recap, click HERE.
Women's Soccer
UCLA junior forward Iris Mora and the Mexican women's soccer team fell to Germany, 2-0 Tuesday at Karaiskaki Stadium in Athens. Despite the loss, Mexico advances to the quarterfinals and will face Brazil in its next match. For a complete recap, click HERE.
Men's Indoor Volleyball
The United States defeated the Netherlands 26-24, 25-20, 25-18 on Tuesday in Athens, snapping a nine-match losing streak. UCLA's Erik Sullivan led the U.S. with eight digs in the match.
