ATHENS, Greece - Three UCLA athletes were in action on Wednesday in Athens, with Sheena Johnson finishing fourth in the 400 meter hurdles, UCLA's Mark Williams, competing for Austraila, finished fourth in beach volleyball, and the United States men's indoor volleyball team advanced to the Olympics semifinals with a five-set win over host Greece. Erik Sullivan (UCLA '95) is the libero for Team USA.
Men's Track and Field
All-American pole vaulter, Yoo Kim, competing for South Korea, finished 32nd with a top height of 5.30 and failed to advance to the finals.
Women's Track
NCAA Champion Sheena Johnson finished fourth on Wednesday in the 400m hurdles at the Athens Olympic Games with a time of 53.53. The bronze medal winning time was 53.44. Johnson, running in lane eight ran out of gas towards the end of the race. Throughout the rounds, she had been in the inside and outside lanes. "At the seventh hurdle everybody went, but I couldn't keep up," said Johnson. "I was just too tired. It's a little disappointing to miss out on a medal." For a complete recap, click HERE.
