Athens, Greece - The 2004 Olympic Games came to a conclusion with former UCLA great Meb Keflezighi winning a silver medal in the marathon on Sunday and Bruin senior Monique Henderson winning gold in the women's 1,600 meter relay on Saturday. Also wrapping up play over the weekend were Erik Sullivan and the USA men's volleyball team and high jumper Amy Acuff.

UCLA ended the Olympics with 19 medal-winners - eight gold, three silver and eight bronze.

Men's Marathon
Meb Keflezighi took home a silver medal in the marathon on Sunday, finishing the 26.2-mile race in a personal-best time of 2:11.29, 34 seconds behind the winner Stefano Baldini. Vanderlei de De Lima finished in 2:12.11. Keflezighi is the first American to medal in the men's marathon since Frank Shorter's silver in 1976. Deena Kastor won the bronze in the women's marathon a week ago, marking the first time the United States had won two medals in the 26.2-mile race at the same Olympics.

Women's Track & Field
UCLA senior Monique Henderson won a gold medal in the women's 1,600m relay on Saturday. Henderson ran the second leg of the relay, which the U.S. won in a season-best 3 minutes, 19.01 seconds. The team of DeeDee Trotter, Henderson, Sanya Richards and Monique Hennagan easily beat Russia, which took silver in 3:20.16. Jamaica won bronze in 3:22.

Also, in the women's high jump Saturday evening, UCLA alum Amy Acuff placed fourth, clearing 6-6 1/4. Acuff cleared 6-6 1/4 on her first try. She took a pass on the next height, though, hoping she could clear 6-8 1/4 and get a medal. But she clipped the bar three straight times, and was forced to settle for fourth place.

Men's Volleyball
The United States was swept in three sets by Russia in the men's volleyball bronze medal match on Sunday, the final day of the Athens Games. Russia rolled to a 25-22, 27-25, 25-26 victory, claiming the bronze in 78 minutes. Former UCLA star Erik Sullivan had a match-high eight digs.
