Zalameda Captures Singles Title at Wilson/ITA Fall Regionals

San Diego, Calif. -- UCLA women's tennis player Riza Zalameda defeated USC's Lindsey Nelson, 6-3, 6-4 in Monday's championship match at the Wilson/ITA Fall Regionals held at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.
Zalameda, a freshman, dropped just one set in six singles matches during the tournament. Following her victory, Zalameda teamed with Daniela Bercek to win the doubles title over Arizona State's Joslynn Burkett/Wendy Pilecka, 8-3.
Bruin senior Sarah Gregg played in Monday's consolation singles final, falling to USC's Dianne Matias, 6-4, 6-3.
With the victory, Zalameda and Bercek earn a spot in the main doubles draw at the ITA National Indoor Championships, Nov. 4-7 in Ann Arbor, Mich. Zalameda will also be competing in singles at that event.
