Athens, Ga. - UCLA's Daniela Bercek and Lauren Fisher posted a first-round victory Tuesday to advance to the round of 16 in the doubles draw at the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships held at the University of Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Bercek and Fisher defeated Alabama's Ashley Bentley/Robin Stephenson, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. They will take on North Carolina's Kendal Cline/Aniela Mojzis in Wednesday's round of 16. Also on Tuesday, UCLA's Jackie Carleton and Feriel Esseghir fell in the first round to eighth-seeded Claire Carter and Dea Sumantri of Washington, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3.

Both of UCLA's entrants into the singles draw fell in the first round on Monday. Bercek lost to third-seeded Anda Perianu of Oklahoma. She dropped the first set 7-5 and was forced to retire with an injury at 4-4 in the second set. Carleton lost to Northwestern's Jessica Rush, 6-4, 6-3.
