Golf Digest, one of America's premier publications, has ranked the UCLA men's program No. 1 and the women's program No. 2 in its preseason "Golf First Ranking" for its September issue, scheduled to hit stands on Aug. 8.

The top billing represents the second straight year the Bruins have been selected as the nation's No.1 men's program. In its September 2005 issue, the magazine named UCLA the nation's best-balanced program.

"We are honored to be recognized by Golf Digest as the No. 1 men's college golf school in the country," said fifth-year Head Coach O.D. Vincent. "We are very blessed with not only a well-rounded program but also extremely high-quality individuals. The overall collegiate golf experience at UCLA is tough to beat. We look forward to getting the 2006-07 season started."

During Vincent's tenure, the Bruins have won 30 tournaments, including two NCAA Regional championships and a pair of conference titles. They have also recorded three Top 10 national finishes in the last four years.

The women's program under the direction of eighth-year head coach Carrie Forsyth, was ranked second nationally in 2005 in Golf Digest's preseason poll. Under Forsyth since 1999, the Bruins have won the 2004 NCAA title, captured three straight Pac-10 titles and have won a total of 21 tournaments.
