  • UCLA has now won eight straight games at the Rose Bowl.
  • UCLA leads the all-time series against Rice, 4-0. The Bruins have outscored the Owls, 136-61, in four games.
  • UCLA has allowed just 26 points in its first two games, the Bruins' best defensive start since allowing a total of 19 points in the first two games in 2003.
  • The Bruin defense has allowed just 471 yards of total offense through UCLA's first two games (Utah - 287, Rice - 184). No other UCLA team has allowed less yards in its first two games (dating back to 1981). The previous low was 510 yards in 1996 (357 vs. Tennessee and 153 yards vs. NE Louisiana).
  • UCLA running back Chris Markey rushed for a career-high 208 yards, his third 100-yard game of his career and first 200-yard game. (Previous 100-yard games were 161 yards vs. Northwestern in the 2005 Sun Bowl and 131 yards vs. Oregon in 2004)
  • Markey is the 11th Bruin to rush for 200 yards in a game, and this is the 16th 200-yard performance by a Bruin player.
  • Markey's 208 yards rank 14th on UCLA's all-time single-game rushing list and are the most by a Bruin since Maurice Drew went for 322 at Washington in 2004.
  • UCLA has two 100-yard rushers (Markey with 208 yards and Kahlil Bell with 102 yards) for the second time in the last three games. In the 2005 Sun Bowl, Markey rushed for 161 yards and Bell rushed for 136 yards.
  • Markey has passed the 1,000 career rushing yardage mark, now totaling 1,151 career rushing yards.
  • Justin Medlock's third-quarter 51-yard field goal was the fifth 50+ yard field goal of his career, a new school record. He had previously shared the school record of four with John Lee. Medlock is now 5-8 in his career on 50+ yard field goal attempts.
  • Medlock tied his career-high for field goals in a game with four. He also had four field goals vs. San Diego State in 2004.
  • With 14 points, Medlock moved into sixth place on UCLA's all-time scoring list with 265 points. He is one point shy of fifth-place DeShaun Foster (266).
  • In his first two games, quarterback Ben Olson has completed 38-52 passes (.738 completion percentage) for 442 yards and five touchdowns.
  • UCLA has held its first two opponents to 2-24 (Utah: 0-11, Rice: 2-13) on third down conversions.
  • UCLA did not punt until 49 seconds remained in the game.
  • Rice wide receiver Jarett Dillard had seven catches for 102 yards, besting his previous game-high of six catches for 96 yards (11-26-05 at Houston).
